Modern and Futuristic Design of ING Group HQ by Meyer En Van Schooten Architecten
Look at this object. This is not a spaceship. This is an office building. A modern and futuristic design of ING Group Headquarter was created by Meyer En Van Schooten Architecten. This building is located in Amsterdam.
The building is located in a long and narrow site, adjacent to the motorway ring. between the cosmopolitan high-rise of Zuidas and the green zone of De Nieuwe Meer. The building has been kept low on the green side, with the cantilever auditorium as a projecting element, and rises toward urban side.
Some stilts support the building 9-12.5 meters in height. By this design, the building will not block the view from the motorway. The entrance of the building is located between the stilts.
The building consists of offices, conference rooms, waiting rooms, foyer, auditorium, reception hall, restaurant, dining room, gardens, underground car park and bicycle shed.
The design considered the transparency, eco-friendliness, innovation, and openness. This is to symbolize a dynamic, fast-moving international network of the banking and insurance conglomerate. Some sustainable features are available and make this building efficient in energy, such as the double-skin facade that provides natural ventilation, also protect the offices from the noise, advanced air treatment system, the use of aquifer under the building, and a mechanical pumping system to provide cold / warm thermal storage.
The interior was designed to be richly varied and feature an alternation of open and sheltered spaces. Areas with a panoramic view, such as restaurant, conference room, auditorium, exist alongside introverted spaces, while atriums, loggias, and gardens (internal and external) are distributed through the building at various level.
