This eco construction was built very beautiful as a hilltop residence that faces the ocean.  The house has 4 bedrooms with simple rectangular shape. The openings are set from the east side to west side, to maximize the daylighting around the day. The beautiful view can be accessed from big open windows.

This sustainable architecture building is dominated with wooden materials, especially  red cedar. Wooden materials are also dominated the interior, including floor, ceiling. This provides a natural feeling and creates a beautiful blending with the environment. There is a living planted roof also, provides an insulation for the house, also maintain the rainwater catchment.

This sustainable prefab house can be set up to 4 stories. The prefabrication process will provide less waste, and may reduce environment disturbances during construction. This sustainable architecture building was produced in those kind methods. It was prefabricated, adopting no-cut design, providing more efficient materials to be used. It used 2×6 framing and plywood sheets on concrete piers. The owners of this sustainable architecture building need a large, open-plan house with some functions, including socialization and business space, and a place of  spiritual calm and clarity. The traditional home design in the location of the house became a challenge for the designer, beside the site constraints.  The result is a three story contemporary house, composed by three separated building connected by transparent links wrapped around an open courtyard.

Some sustainable features were provided in order to achieve high sustainability for this house. Passive design was adopted to achieve high energy efficiency, supported also by heat recovery system. To maximize natural ventilation and good air circulation, the living pavilions can be fully opened up. Some sustainable building materials were also used, such as  low VOC carpets, paints, adhesives and sealants for indoor, There are also dedicated service areas that allow ease of council recycle bins.

The eco construction is completed with wine cellar with controlled air condition. Five bedrooms, several living areas, study room, gym, pool, spa, and garages are provided too. To protect the house from over sun exposure, automated solar blinds are used. The use of big glass windows also provide natural daylighting for the house.

The sustainable  renovation project was intended to  penetrate the existing house on either side, also to create  extendable spaces of indoor outdoor living. The core of the original house was preserved and the extensions were done around it.  The crafted feel of the original building was maintained, combined with contemporary design. The final design is a flexible and continuous space design, maximizing the space into the canopy of the trees. Sustainable building materials were used, such as bamboo for flooring, recycled glass for interior countertops, etc. These kind of materials are natural and  provide little maintenance.

Another sustainable design concept applied in this eco construction is by maximizing the glass openings, to maximize the natural daylighting. They also provide a thin border between outdoor and indoor. A gorgeous glass staircase was also created to provide a transparent connection between indoor and outdoor living spaces. By these structure, the house will act just like a green house that may store heat gathered in the morning.

By all of these features, this sustainable architecture building may have minimal energy using. This house is claimed that it has zero artificial illumination throughout the day.

The 2,632 sq ft green architecture building was built by utilizing native materials to create a good blend with the neighborhood. Contemporary design was adopted. The exterior is completed with Tennessee fieldstone, stucco, and white clapboard. Natural lighting is provided by traditional glass gable facade, for kitchen, living area, and dining room. Other local materials used are reclaimed heart pine for flooring and reclaimed barn wood. for walls.

To provide high energy efficiency, this sustainable house is completed by some features, including superior insulation, Energy Star windows, air tightness, also solar powered hot water system. Low-flow fixtures and drought-tolerant landscaping will help to conserve the water. The water source is provided by rainwater catchment system, supported by  a 1,100-gallon cistern.

To achieve higher sustainability, sustainable building materials were used for this eco construction. Low VOC, non-toxic, and recycled materials became priority. EPA-certified wood  burning stove is available. The other features are LED for lighting and  a high-efficiency heat pump with an ERV. By all of these features, the house may achieve the same energy use compared to the one third size house. The house also achieved LEED Platinum certificate.

This barn-like eco construction was built in on the edge of an open agricultural reserve, adjacent to a corn field, near the Atlantic shoreline. The unique of this house is the exterior. A series of louvers are used as the skin, creating transparency for the house to let the natural day light flood the interior, also encourage the natural ventilation. When needed, these louvers can be closed to provide privacy. This system also creates a thin border between the indoor and outdoor spaces where five outdoor courtyards and gardens are arranged around the interior living areas under the peaked roof.

The open plan concept is applied for the interior of this sustainable house. The ceiling is extraordinary high. A series of skylight can help to encourage the natural lighting through the entire space of the house.

The public spaces of this eco friendly construction are  elevated to the second floor to capture the view.  The private areas are covered by the mezzanine which also features a cozy study, a contrast from the openness of the rest of the home, opened to its own private garden. A custom woodshop is provided near the main building, with adjoining changing rooms for use of the lap pool that lies just beyond.

This green architecture building will look very beautiful at night, thanks to the louvers, the interior lighting will provide a warm glowing lighting through the louvers.

This eco friendly construction adopts open plan concept, where a large deck area is available connected with the interior through bi-folding doors. The owners needed an extra space for elderly parents, and this 1,055 sq ft house can meet the criteria. The separation and privacy for each generation can still be maintained.

In this case, this eco construction was designed with  well-insulated envelope. Some sustainable building materials were used, such as Canadian Western Red Cedar for cladding, an Accoya deck, PEFC-FSC-certified woods, etc. Most of the features can be customized. For the roof, a living green sedum roof was provided, the other choice is EPDM rubber roofing system. Floor-to-ceiling windows provide  maximal view and natural day lighting, supported by a sky light in the hallway. The windows are from doubled glazed, argon filled window panes. This house is also can be completed with LED lighting.

The clients need a house with connected space feeling, also offer individual freedom to the occupants. The sustainable architecture building consists of two levels, where each level has its own height, depends on its function. The ground level is sunken into the earth with glassing windows are provided to create a direct view connection to the garden. This construction may provide good moderation of the indoor temperature as the earth’s temperature is relatively stable. The ground level houses  a large open floor plan kitchen, living, dining, and storage space. The upper level is used for private areas, such as bedrooms, bathrooms and the children’s rooms. All of these spaces are organized with different height, without any partitions.

This sustainable construction was built by using sustainable building materials. Recyclable CNC-cut timber panels were used as the walls and floors of the upper level. This material also provide insulation for the rooms and  good cost-effective building solution. This also provide some good things, such as they constitute the finish, define spaces and functions, and create a comfortable internal environment. Geothermal energy is used as an alternative energy source, especially for heating and cooling. The  energy rating of this house is 59.8kWh/m2a.

This eco construction took 4 months to be finished and it is now £200,000. This house was also named as the Winner of the 2009 German Timber Awards.

The exterior of this sustainable green building is dominated with black color to make a good blend with the surrounding forest. The dark color also makes the house disappear totally when seen from the lake. It has flat roof design.

The interior of this green architecture design is dominated with white color, very contrast compared to the exterior. This will help the reflection of sun light through the entire space. Most of the furniture are handmade or from reuse furniture. Wood materials are dominated, where spruce is for the ceilings and walls, pine is for the floors. They are finished with a Wood Wax Finish in white from Osmo.

Each corner of this sustainable construction is completed with large windows which will encourage the access of view and sun light. The concept of the space is open and defined at the same time. Each  wing will cover the bedroom, a living room, a dining room, and a kitchen. A separated building houses wood-fired sauna and bathroom.

Some sustainable features are provided for this eco construction. This house is powered by some alternative energy sources, such as sun (via solar panels) for electricity, wood (via wood fireplace) for heating, There is no running water, the water is from what the available stock on-site. Great insulation provides a good protection from heat losses. Vegetable and herbs are cultivated on-site, and used for food sources, besides the fish caught from the lake.

The green infrastructure is a four stories building with different function for each level. The main level is used for general living space, including kitchen, living room, dining room. Floor-to-ceiling glass openings are provided to maximize the view. The floor plan for this level is open, providing wide feeling of the space. The private space, including the bedroom and a reading loft, is located upstairs. The reading loft is opened to the living room below. To connect these levels, there is a fire pole provided, in addition of the stair tower that will connect the observation tower named “Bubble”, used for maximize the view, including night sky view. The lower level, which is a daylight level, is used for guest space. The roof deck can be accessed from the Bubble.

To perform high sustainability for this sustainable house, some strategies were applied. For the construction, the house is formed by  insulated concrete form (ICF) construction which consists of two layers of rigid form insulation between which concrete is poured. This type of construction may reduce 44% of the required heating energy, and 33% of required cooling energy compared to the ordinary house. The ICF system  also provide possibility of stucco application directly over the exterior insulation, which will provide durable and low maintenance finishing.

Geothermal heat pump is used to provide more efficient heating and cooling of this green and sustainable building. It is supported by hydronic heating system also which may use  30% less energy than an equivalent forced air system. The heat pump may be 45% more efficient than a traditional heat pump which uses ambient air. As alternative energy source, it is possible to use solar panels or wind turbine energy to power the house.

This sustainable architecture design applied passive solar design, which solar exposure to the interior is focused from the southern windows . The concrete floors will act as thermal mass storage which will store the heat during daylight, and release it throughout the evening. Motorized solar shade system will help to protect the house from over sun-heating. Natural ventilation is provided from the stairway, by a solar chimney effect, also from the Bubble.

This green building architecture looks very beautiful with simple building form with high sustainability strategy applied.
