One Macquarie by Arkhefield
A modern design of apartment, called One Macquarie has been made by Arkhefield. It is located at Teneriffe. Consideration of the relationship between intelligent urban planning, built form, and luxury living is the key success of this apartment design.
One Macquarie consists of four buildings which house 34 luxury apartments and embodies the pursuit of timelessness, enduring quality, individuality and creativity. The apartments are arranged in a 2 per floor configuration distributed across this long riverfront site. Public permeability is maintained to all four perimeters via the street and riverfront boardwalk. Visual permeability to the river is afforded to residents behind.
The core aspiration of One Macquarie’s urban plan was to complete the final gap along the river precinct
and enrich the local area, incorporating a style that is contextually appropriate for luxury living. Through this
development, the final gap along the Teneriffe river walk precinct was completed and new pedestrian walkways
established to benefi t the surrounding residential community.
Some unique features has been designed for this site. One of them is the sunshade device to the building façade. It is not only protect the apartments from afternoon sun, it is also create an aesthetic horizontal language that ties all four buildings together and is sensitive to the scale of surrounding streetscape.
The urban design strategy for this development was centered on the integration and provision of parks, the boardwalk and pedestrian networks. An existing heritage building on the site was maintained and fabric respected through it’s relocation to the transitory node of the park linking the pedestrian network and riverwalk. This amenity is now accessed more readily by the community and adds a level of value in cultural history to the area.
