Saraca House by Formwekz
Saraca House projects was a rebuild project of Formwerkz for a 2 storey semi detached house. Maximum distances from surrounding neighbors and the front road are needed to ensure privacy. An ample garden space is also needed.
The designer converted the 2 storey semi detached house into 3 storey storey bungalow to house the client’s family of 4 with 1 maid. To ensure maximum distance from the neighbors, the house is conceived as an interlocking, compact volume, occupying the minimum footprint.
Balconies, reading rooms, and terraces are configured just like a drawer structures, “pulled out” along the peripherals of the upper storeys. By this configuration, these zones allow activity spaces to be extended beyond the main core without compromising any privacy.
A curtain of green bamboo is attached to screen the 2nd storey front terrace from the main road. The 2nd storey terrace is also a buffer for the family room and a shelter for the cars. Creepers from high level planters will eventually take over the timber trellis as a green shade.
