Sustainable Prefab Design of The Desert House by Marmol Radziner
This prefab house, called The Desert House, is located on a 5 acre area in Desert Hot Springs, California. This house becomes the prototype of other Marmol Radziner‘s prefab house.
This house belongs to Leo Marmol and Alisa Becket. It is orientated to San Jacinto peak view. It has outdoor living areas inspired by the climate, which double the 2000 square foot interior spaces. It is also completed with a prefab carport.
This house has 4 house modules, and 6 deck modules. The sunshade modules are also available to provide the protection from the sun. Sheltered living spaces blend indoors with outdoors, simultaneously extending and connecting the house to the north wing, which holds a guest house and studio space. The shape of this house provides a protected, exterior environment that includes a pool and fire pit
The house is 100 % powered by solar panels. The sunshades protect the house from sun light, and the concrete floors provide passive solar heat gain when in cold season.
