Sustainable Y-House in Chilean Coast by Plus Arquitectura
Designing a sustainable building located in a bare seaside site always provides challenges for architects as they should consider the harsh sun light and strong wind. Plus Arquitectura has designed a beautiful and sustainable house, located near Tunquén beach in Chile. The challenges were the same, and they should also consider how to maximize the access to beautiful beach view.
This beautiful eco construction has Y-shaped roof. This roof provides shading, protecting the house from harsh sunlight, also provide space to install solar panels as an alternative energy source, and rainwater catchment system. Protection from over radiation by sun also is provided by high performance windows. This will also provide optimal beautiful surrounding view.
Some sustainable features were provided for this house. To make this home warm at cooler seasons, this house is completed with radiant heating system and two double combustion fireplaces. Passive design was also applied for the design. The materials chosen are also from eco friendly materials, such as SIP panels, pine woods, etc. The construction is raised to minimize the site disturbances.
This eco friendly building house consists of 3 bedrooms, two bathrooms, living-room with kitchenette and studio. A porch is available for doing some outdoor activities, such as outdoor dinner. The wing of the Y-house that covers this porch is higher. A garden is also available too, creating more natural feeling.
