A Sustainable Home in Sonoma by Cooper Joseph Studio

A sustainable home was designed for a couple of scientists, by Cooper Joseph Studio. It was built in Dry Creek Valley,  Sonoma, where they can have several agricultural projects, such as olives, olive oil, beekeeping, honey and extensive gardening, regarding their interest on  “locavore” movement. It used to be a  a dilapidated house, and they re-built it, and facilitated it by several sustainable features.

House of Five Dreams, a Green Home Building in a Desert

Located in Sonoran Desert, this green home building, called House of Five Dreams, was designed by Jones Studio Inc. This is a house, combined with a private museum. A protection from sun light and heat becomes a consideration, because of the hot desert environment. With modern design, this sustainable building can be an “oasis” for the inhabitants in the desert environment.

The Sustainability of Safe House by KWK Promes

The location is located on the edge of a cliff, providing great ocean views for the house. The architecture also adopts some sustainable features as good additional point for the design.

Sustainable Architecture and Design of North Beach Residence

North Beach Residence was designed by Heliotrope Architects. This environmental building design is owned by Rysia Sucheca and John Warburton, located on Orcas Island. It was built by David Shore Construction, and received a national AIA Honor Award this year. As its location is a historical site, an eco friendly construction should be carefully considered.

Bark Architects, one of architecture firms in Australia, designed a beautiful house with environmentally friendly construction, The Marcus Beach House. The idea of this house was to create two pavilions placed either side of the old Morton Bay Ash tree , that stands as a cynosure to the scale, proportion, and life of the house around it. Some sustainable features make this house eco friendly, supported by the beauty of the surroundings.

OS House, The Environmentally Friendly House

The AIA (American Institue of Architects) and COTE (Commitee on the Environment) have announced the Top Ten Green Projects for 2011. One of the projects is the OS House, designed by Johnsen Schmaling Architects. All of these green buildings, including this house become good example of the implementasion of environmentally friendly construction as a protection for the environment. This enviromentally friendly house also received LEED Platinum certification.

Green Building Construction of Tim Palen Studio

These days, shipping containers have been used as main material for building a green construction, such as houses. Tim Palen Studio is one of buildings constructed from shipping container. It becomes the first permitted shipping container house in the Mojave Desert, near Joshua Tree, California. This prefab home was designed by ecotechdesign, combining the energy and production efficiencies of diverse pre-engineered building and energy systems that working together seamlessly to produce a smooth-running hybrid green home building.

Green Home Design of Syracuse’s R-House

R-House is a green home design of Architecture Research Office, in collaboration with Della Valle Bernheimer, built by Home HeadQuaters. It is a 1,100 sq ft prototype house provided for Syracuse School of Architecture, which offers sustainability, affordability, and modern aspect. The green building is expected to be a passive building and also a LEED building. It wants to present  an affordable, innovative paradigm for minimal to net-zero energy consumption. It achieved  a 2011 AIA Housing Award.
